Power Platform AI Builder

The Microsoft Power Platform is an important low-code environment that enables businesses to easily build powerful tools that facilitate their operations. Two of the key components of the Power Platform are Power Apps and Power Automate. Power Apps allows you to build interactive apps that can be used throughout your organization while Power Automate allows both developers and non-developers to easily automate repetitive and time-consuming workflows.

Current applications and workflows are expected to be smarter and pre-emptive to problems that happen rather than be reactive to them. One way to create such solution is by incorporating AI capabilities into them. Conventionally, incorporating AI capabilities into a solution requires a data science background. Not anymore, thanks to Power Platform AI builder. It is an addition to the Microsoft Power Platform that lets users add AI into applications created using Power Apps and workflows created using Power Automate.

With the AI builder, no coding experience is required to access the power of AI. It makes this process very easy without any technical expertise required.

Add AI capabilities to your applications and workflows

You can access pre-built AI models or create custom models to be added to your applications or workflows. Prebuilt AI models can be added to apps/workflows without any customization required. Custom AI models must be subjected to several training sessions and demonstrations before they can perform tasks autonomously.

AI Builder for Power Apps

For applications built with Power Apps, you can:

  • Use AI models in the formula bar
  • Add AI builder components

Prebuilt AI Builder models that use Power Apps via the formula bar include Sentiment Analysis, Key phrase extraction, and Language detection. The rest have been prebuilt but allow the user to customize, including Entity extraction and Category classification.

AI Builder for Power Automate

It is now possible to infuse AI models into automated workflows created using Power Automate. If the workflow has straightforward need such as language detection or text translation, there are prebuilt models that can be added without any customization required. If the needs are more specific such as category classification or prediction, AI Builder has custom AI models to be built and trained.

Types of models you can build with

Power Platform AI builder allows you to build a wide variety of AI models, here are the main ones that may be essential for your business.

  • Object recognition,
  • Prediction model,
  • Text Classification model, and
  • Forms Processing model,

The AI builder enables you to create an AI model with object recognition, which allows you to automatically detect and track your products. In this case you would need to train your AI model. You can take advantage of pre-built models and customize them via training to easily infuse the model into your applications. In this way, the users of that application will enjoy the benefits of AI directly from it.

You can also build a prediction model that leverages your business’ data to predict outcomes. This model can consume raw data directly from your existing applications and predict trends. These predictions will facilitate the making of intelligent business decisions.

If your business is highly dependent on customer service, you can build a text prediction model to classify customer opinions and reviews. A set of categories would have to be generated based on existing customer feedback. The AI builder lets you build this model in 3 simple steps and then it can be used to classify new customer feedback as it arrives.

You can also use the AI Builder to build a model tailored towards increasing your productivity via form processing. Forms such as invoices contain a lot of information that you may not necessarily need. You can train your models to focus on the important information on forms, isolate it and process it. You can incorporate this model in your workflows (built using Power Automate) so that you only work with relevant information.

Power Platform AI builder makes it extremely easy to build AI models and incorporate them into your apps and workflows. With this solution, you get to make your existing apps and workflows more efficient with AI capabilities.
